Welcome!

OneTree 草榴社区 is a STEAM (STEM + Arts) program affiliated with the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station of the University of 草榴社区 Fairbanks.

OneTree 草榴社区鈥檚 mission is to engage learners of all ages in boreal forest education, citizen science and forest product development. It is centrally concerned with phenology, seasonality and climate change. Phenology is the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and plant and animal life.

OneTree 草榴社区 STEAM integrated research and citizen science projects are made possible through collaboration with K-12 teachers, the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, university students, staff and faculty, and many community partners.

The local boreal forest is our foundation and inspires our work. Please see our recent projects, and share your expertise.

Celebrate the full moon and winter solstice under the birch trees

Enjoy a beautiful afternoon in OneTree 草榴社区's birch grove as the full moon rises just before the winter solstice.

Between noon-6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, participants can learn about the long-term monitoring of birch trees in the University of 草榴社区 Fairbanks T-field and celebrate the tree stewardship that supports OneTree's mission.

Stay for an hour or the afternoon and bring a thermos with your favorite hot drink. Park and walk from West Ridge ski hut on the 草榴社区 Troth Yeddha' Campus or the Large Animal Research Station at 2220 Yankovich Road.
