The 草榴社区 Department of Political Science is excited to host a special Lunch & Learn event featuring Jeff Dobbins, Interim Dean and Law Professor at Willamette University School of Law, and Assistant Dean of Admissions, Jessica Kliewer. This engaging session, scheduled for Thursday, February 27th, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM in Gruening 503H, offers students a unique opportunity to experience a mock law school class and gain valuable admissions insights. A Zoom option is available for those who cannot attend in person.

Attendees will get a firsthand look at what it鈥檚 like to be in law school as Professor Dobbins leads a mock class on how cases are appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. As one of the most influential institutions in the country, the Supreme Court plays a significant role in shaping laws and policies. This session will explore what the Court can鈥攁nd cannot鈥攄o in the U.S. constitutional system and how skilled attorneys craft cases to be heard at the highest level.

Following the mock class, Jessica Kliewer, Head of Admissions at Willamette Law, will offer expert advice on the law school application process. From crafting a compelling personal statement to understanding what admissions committees look for, students will leave with insider knowledge on how to strengthen their applications.

Plus, free pizza and drinks will be provided! RSVPs are appreciated but not required. Students can email Carol Gray, Pre-Law Advisor in Political Science, at cjgray5@alaska.edu for more information.
