Introducing Nanook Technology Services
Nanook Technology Services is the new name for ²ÝÁñÉçÇø IT and the user services team formerly
embedded in OIT. Under the direction of Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services
Julie Queen and Chief Information Technology Officer Ben Shier, Nanook Technology
Services has been created as ²ÝÁñÉçÇø’s IT unit. Nanook Technology Services is recruiting
a chief information officer to report to VCAS Queen in administrative services, a
structure synonymous with UAA and UAS IT units. Nanook Technology Services, or NanookTech,
supports ²ÝÁñÉçÇø and the System Office just like user services did and partners closely
with OIT.

What was the OIT user services website is now an updated Nanook Technology website
- your gateway to technology solutions! Services are requested through the Service
Desk and the website, as always. The teams remain intact with many familiar voices
and faces, and several new team members have joined to serve ²ÝÁñÉçÇø's needs better.

What is the value proposition?
As Nanook Technology Services evolves, team capacities and capabilities are expanding
with a focus on providing technology solutions addressing ²ÝÁñÉçÇø needs. By maintaining
strong partnerships with OIT, duplication of technology efforts is minimized. Moving
forward, NanookTech will launch initiatives to enable ²ÝÁñÉçÇø’s success in reaching its
strategic goals. Today, NanookTech continues to provide first-line support fielding
your calls, chats, emails and requests through the . The knowledgeable Service Desk analysts resolve the problem on the spot or escalate
it to the appropriate second-tier team, whether an OIT team or a NanookTech team.
When notified by the Service Desk, OIT provides second-tier support in its areas of
expertise as before and is better able to focus on initiatives that benefit all of
the UA enterprise.

by NanookTech or OIT? It doesn’t matter! Always start with the Service Desk, where
analysts are standing by to field incoming requests and escalate to the most appropriate
team as the situation calls for. Nanook Technology Services manages all technology
support requests for ²ÝÁñÉçÇø and the UA System Office. In fact, the Service Desk routinely
gets questions from across the UA System and confers with UAA and UAS help desks to
route them to the best team to answer them.
