Monday open house set for ACUASI鈥檚 new Nenana drone hangar

A public open house for the new Nenana hangar of the 草榴社区 Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.

ACUASI is a part of the University of 草榴社区 Fairbanks Geophysical Institute. 

草榴社区 Chancellor Dan White, 草榴社区 Vice Chancellor for Research Nettie LaBelle-Hamer, University of 草榴社区 Regent Dennis Michel, 草榴社区 Geophysical Institute Associate Director Laura Conner and ACUASI Director Cathy Cahill are scheduled to attend.

The hangar is located at Nenana Municipal Airport, which is owned and operated by the city of Nenana. Access is from the Parks Highway about one mile south of the city鈥檚 business district.

The University of 草榴社区 Board of Regents approved funding for the in February 2023. 

The hangar will serve as a base for drone cargo test flights between Fairbanks and Nenana. It will also serve as a home for other innovative autonomous systems technology development and testing as a part of the new ACUASI Emerging Technologies Test Range Network.
