Ice Fishing

Trip description:

Outdoor Adventures is working with the 草榴社区 Department of Fish and Game to provide this ice fishing experience. We will head down to Chena Lakes and spend the day out on the ice trying to catch some big fish. Transportation, fishing gear, and expertise are provided. (Students must purchase a fishing license to participate.)

Schedule:

Saturday, February 15th

  • 8am - Meet at Outdoor Adventures and start driving to the lake
  • 8:30am - Arrive at the lake and start drilling holes
  • 12:00pm - Pack up fishing gear and head back to 草榴社区
  • 12:30pm - Arrive back at OA

Gear list:

  • Winter Boots (OA can supply Mountaineering Boots)
  • Synthetic or wool long underwear tops and bottoms
  • Softshell jacket or wind jacket (rain coat will work)
  • Fleece shirt or wool sweater
  • Puffy coat for hanging out time
  • Snow pants or Synthetic pants that block wind
  • Warm winter gloves or mitts
  • Warm (wool or synthetic) socks
  • Warm wool or fleece hat
  • Neck gaiter or facemask
  • Day pack
  • Lunch, snacks and water
  • Fishing License

Refund Policy:

Payment in full is required to sign up for a trip.  A 100% refund is available if you notify the Outdoor Adventures Office of the cancellation more than two weeks (14 days) before the first day of the trip.  Cancellation one week to 3 days (13 to 3 days) before the trip entitles the participant to a 50% refund. No refund is provided if the participant does not show up or cancels 2 days prior to the trip.

 

Safety and Risk Management:

Due to the nature of outdoor travel there are certain inherent risks in all of Outdoor Adventure鈥檚 trips.  Acceptable risks include but are not limited to; Falling on the ice, liquid water in below freezing temps, cold extremities (toes, fingers, nose and cheeks), falling through ice and wildlife encounters. Conditions may include below zero temperatures, snow, and high winds.  Driving risks may include slick roads, poor visibility and wildlife.  草榴社区 is a wild place - you need to take ultimate responsibility for your own safety as only you can. For your protection we require you to carry health insurance.  You can purchase insurance for $2.60/day from the University (ask for details).
