Zach grew up surrounded by the wilderness of Southeast ²ÝÁñÉçÇø. With parents in the National Park Service, Zach had ample opportunity as a boy to explore the mountains and fjords of this region, experiences that gave him a lasting love of the natural world. Zach pursued a PhD at Stanford University, studying how changing sea ice affects the marine biological communities of the polar regions, especially the phytoplankton that form the first link of the food chain. During his time at Stanford, Zach was thrilled to undertake multiple research expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. Completing his PhD studies in spring 2014, Zach set off on a 4-month, 2300-mile solo trek, hiking and paddling from Stanford to his ²ÝÁñÉçÇøn homeland, to spread the word about creating Tidelines Institute.  He lives with his wife Laura and son Salix in Gustavus, AK.

Bathsheba Demuth is writer and environmental historian specializing in the lands and seas of the Russian and North American Arctic. Her interest in northern places and cultures began when she was 18 and moved to the village of Old Crow in the Yukon, where she trained huskies for several years. From the archive to the dog sled, she is interested in how the histories of people, ideas, and ecologies intersect. In addition to her prize-winning book Floating Coast: An Environmental History of the Bering Strait, her writing has appeared in publications from The American Historical Review to The New Yorker and The Best American Science and Nature Writing. She is currently the Dean’s Associate Professor of History and Environment and Society at Brown University.

Daisy Huang is an associate professor of energy at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, working on the forefront of renewable energy research in the challenging Arctic environment. Living in a dry cabin in a city with extreme heating requirements and one of the highest energy costs in the world has made Huang keenly aware of the need to use technology to increase energy efficiency and develop local renewable energy sources. This led her to earn her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from ²ÝÁñÉçÇø in 2013.

Huang completed her B.S. in mechanical engineering at University of California, Berkeley and M.S. in mechanical engineering at Santa Clara University. Prior to her Ph.D. studies, she spent seven years designing mechanical components for the semiconductor and power control industries in the Silicon Valley. She also has broad experience in materials selection and design-for-manufacture criteria.

Outside of work, Huang enjoys skiing, hiking, backpacking, gardening, cooking, eating, reading and hanging out with her retired sled dogs.

Princess lives with her three sons, daughter, and partner on lower Tanana Dene lands in ²ÝÁñÉçÇø. She is a founding member of the Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition and humbled to serve on the boards of Native Movement and NDN Collective, and the SAG-AFTRA Native American Committee since 2007. She is a Sundance Film Alum, a Nia Tero Storytelling Fellow, and Illuminatives/Netflix Producers Program participant and is an Emmy-nominated screenwriter and former Creative Producer for Peabody award-winning PBS Kids series Molly of Denali. She is currently in development for her first feature film.

Maggie King is the current Executive Assistant to the Chancellor at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø and has served in this role since Jan. 29, 2023. In her role, King reports directly to Chancellor Daniel White and provides in-depth assistance to the chancellor on the administration and operations of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø.

King joined the Chancellor’s Office from the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø College of Indigenous Studies, where she was the Marketing and Communications Lead. Prior to this role, she started her career with ²ÝÁñÉçÇø as a program coordinator at the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Interior ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Campus.

King holds a BA in Political Science and International Affairs from Northeastern University and an MA in Rural Development from ²ÝÁñÉçÇø. She grew up in Sandy Creek, NY and now lives in Fairbanks where she enjoys spending time outside on the trails and spoiling her fluffy cat Bernie.
