Announcing launch of Ocelot AI

The Enrollment Management Communications team is excited to announce that as of Dec. 2, Ocelot's chatbot and texting platform has officially launched on a handful of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø's student-serving website homepages. EM Comm has partnered closely with Nanook Technology Services to launch this new platform. The goal of this new platform is for ²ÝÁñÉçÇø's student-serving offices to continue to help as many current and prospective ²ÝÁñÉçÇø students as possible by giving them immediate responses to their pressing questions.

²ÝÁñÉçÇø Sea Grant invites preliminary proposals for research projects to be conducted between February 2026 and January 2028. Creative and innovative research proposals are sought in the natural, social, and education sciences that address needs and engage in ²ÝÁñÉçÇø communities in one or more specific focus areas. ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Sea Grant will host a one-hour webinar on Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. for those interested in submitting preliminary proposals.

The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Bookstore Bundle makes access to required course materials affordable and convenient for students. Through this program, students can rent all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, digital materials and electronic books for a flat fee. These materials may be conveniently delivered by the first day of class. All eligible students are automatically enrolled upon registering for classes. For students who prefer to purchase their course materials on their own, the option to opt-out will be available between Dec. 16, 2024, through Jan. 24, 2025.

Friday Focus: Accountability to our students

Earlier this semester, we tried something new at Convocation. With some help from ²ÝÁñÉçÇø student-athletes, almost 300 people got out their phones or logged onto their computers and made their voices heard with the new polling software. In warm-up rounds of the cell phone voting, 192 of you chose the sledding hill over the ice climbing wall, 145 of you asked to see more outdoor activities for employees on campus, and a surprising 14 of you did not predict ²ÝÁñÉçÇø to own the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Airlines Governor’s Cup this year (we are going for our 14th straight win this year!) And, relevant to this week, a plurality of you voted to see a Chancellor’s Forum on R1. Last Tuesday, we hosted the Chancellor’s R1 Forum for close to 300 people (~60 in person). Thank you to everyone who attended and participated. It will take all of us.
